Who is this Andy Andrews? I regretfully acknowledge that I didn’t know the answer to that question until just recently. Being an avid reader and spending hours browsing in bookstores, I’m sure I have seen his books and heard of him before; it seems I haven’t taken “notice.” Now that I have read his latest book, I feel a deep connection, a common brotherhood. Andrews, through sharing this story, has given a gift to human-kind. Through the common experience of life’s struggles that each of us face, he has given a gift of wisdom if we choose to listen, to notice.
The Noticer is filled with a deep sense of purpose to communicate to everyone the perspectives on life that we easily miss. In fact, if there is one thing you get from the book, it is that you must maintain perspective in your life. The story centers around the character of Jones, the purveyor of the wisdom of perspective. Jones is an older fellow who describes himself as a noticer, he sees things that other people miss, even if right in front of them. Jones communicates a new outlook for each person struggling with crises and through simple words, spreads a deeper understanding of life that most of us have not considered before.
My words here are unable to describe the richness of this book. I can only encourage you to go buy it, and do so very soon. We all need new perspectives and we need them now. These days are hard and this book couldn’t have been written with more appropriate timing. It will touch your heart, deepen your own wisdom, strengthen your convictions, and most wonderfully, it will give you perspective.
